James K. Rustad, M.D., graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1997 with a Music Prize. Dr. Rustad graduated from the University of Florida Honors Program in 2002 with a B.S. in Zoology (with Honors). He attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine (M.D., ‘07). During medical school, he was the president of UVM’s Psychiatry Interest Group, a Teaching Assistant, and a regional co-chair of the national PSYCHSIGN Psychiatry Student Interest Group. He is currently a resident physician in the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Adult Psychiatry program. During residency, he has been involved in teaching as the Psychiatry Resident In Training Exam (PRITE) committee chairman for the program. He is participating as a research assistant at the Miami VA in a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder clinical study. Dr. Rustad is a resident member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.
James continues to pursue his love of music and the arts. He is a singer and songwriter, and plays guitar and bass at concert performances in the Miami area and Vermont.
